School’s Dress Code--an overview

An SVA school-logoed polo, oxford, or blouse must be worn at all times while in classes, classroom buildings, library, the administration building, and lunch in the cafeteria. Approved polo colors are: navy, white, red, yellow, evergreen, and pink. Each student must purchase at least one navy polo. If the sweater vest is worn, a school polo, oxford, or blouse must be worn underneath. Oxfords must be tucked in.

Pants/Skirts – All pants are to be docker style in a solid color: navy, khaki, or black--no blue jeans or spandex. Clothes must fit properly—no tight, saggy, or oversized pants/skirts will be allowed. Skirts must be purchased from SVA’s supplier and must be no more than 2" above the knee.

See link at left for detailed dress code information.

Students will be required to be in school uniform on Monday, August 17, so it is important for new students to get their orders placed right away. You may choose to have the uniforms sent directly to SVA if you would like, and they will be delivered to students at their dormitory (the address is SVA, 234 West Lee Highway, New Market, VA 22844 – Hadley Hall for girls and Phanstiel Hall for boys).

Returning students should already have uniforms from last year and will be expected to be in uniform the first day of school as well (if you have outgrown your shirts from last year make sure you order new ones to have by the time school starts).
