Shenandoah Valley Academy endeavors to teach our students that life’s true aim is to honor the Maker in doing our part of the world’s work. We strive to instill the value of work and develop strong work ethics in each of our students. We believe that students need to be taught that life means earnest work and responsibility. We try to simulate the real world of work in our work environment by developing job descriptions for each student worker, establishing work objectives, and evaluating job performance several times during each school year.
The work of our students varies from cafeteria responsibilities to campus maintenance, from dormitory cleaning duties to teachers’ “readers” that assist in grading papers. From office work to raking leaves and shoveling snow, our students learn the dignity of labor.
Students work approximately 8 - 12 hours per week and earn approximately $2,000 ($1,500 for Fr/So) during the school year.
