Student Association
Leadership
Students have the privilege of holding many positions of leadership on campus. Some positions are by student election, others are appointed by the faculty. Holding a student office is an honor requiring responsibility. The Student Association officers organize a wide variety of campus-wide events. Class officers organize and lead within their class. Student Senators provide representation for student groups. Boys’ Club and Girls’ Club officers function through the dorms. National Honor Society, some music groups, and certain campus publications offer titled leadership positions.
These organizations provide opportunities for students to develop skill and abilities in leadership such as building consensus and negotiating resolutions to problems. Planning, organizing, and executing activities develops proficiencies that students can build on as they assume greater leadership roles and challenges in later life.
